NetDespatch helps Simply Sleep take the pressure off mattress deliveries

NetDespatch has produced a ‘virtual warehouse’ for Simply Sleep, the memory foam mattress supplier. Using the latest web technology, the innovative development has revolutionised Simply Sleep’s supply chain, eliminating the need for stock holding on site.

Mattress orders are booked on-line through the NetDespatch ‘Velocity’ web service, which immediately forwards delivery details to both the overnight parcel carrier APC Overnight and logistics firm Nationwide Express Parcels (NEP). The NetDespatch service also sends details to bar code label printers located at the NEP warehouse. The labels provide product information and NEP simply pick from stock and await collection by APC for delivery next day nationwide.

NEP was one of the country's first adopters of the NetDespatch Velocity web booking and tracking service and over 50% of its bookings are now received over the web. A founder member of APC, the Glossop-based firm has 170 online customers and has made NetDespatch the standard method for booking for all new customers.

Simply Sleep (www.simplysleepmattresses.co.uk) sell a range of mattresses and pillows using visco elastic polyurethane foam. Commonly known as Memory foam, body weight and heat cause the foam to mould itself into the body shape. Recommended by physicians worldwide, the mattresses can reduce tossing and turning by 80% and can relieve back pain. The mattresses are vacuum-packed into parcel-sized boxes ideal for transport by parcel carriers.
